if you read peter king's monday morning quarterback, you'll recognize the 10 things i think i think section, and well even if you dont, its a pretty simple concept, so here are 10 things i think i think about lost.oh yeah, if you arent caught up on this season of lost, dont read this unless you want to know my thoughts on the entire show up to this date.
1. why did they tell jack? the reason to not tell him was because he couldnt be trusted, so now.. lets tell him and then say we didnt tell you because nobody trusts you. how is that going to change anything? come on. and whats with him trusting juliet so much. they spend the entire show making jack the know everything hero, and now he's so caught up in the new blonde that he's become the most naive character on the show? and about juliet, i
think my life would have been better off had her character not been introduced and then her claim to fame could have continued to be that she was angelina jolie's lesbian lover in some made for hbo movie that came out like 10 years ago. but more on that later. the characters not the hbo movie.2. to think that everything is so intertwined is absurd. jack's father is claire's father. locke's con man father is the con man that caused sawyer's family downfall. sawyer had a drink with jack and claire's father before getting on the plane. jack's father hired ana lucia to be his bodyguard/hitman/driver/whatever and then she had some connection with jack. the lady that sawyer conned helped kate. hurley owns the box company that locke worked at. the car accident that almost paralyzed jack's ex-wife is the same accident that killed shannon and boone's father. please. next time you get on a plane, let alone an international flight where people are coming from wherever and going wherever (on my return trip from india, 11 people were also going from bombay to los angeles. 11! out of the whole plane!) chances are, you are not connected to anyone on the flight other than the people you get on board with. i do not share a connection with every single person in the world, nor do you, so making EVERY character have some relationship with every other character before the flight just becomes lame. that first time they played that card, with sawyer telling jack how his father really loved him. yeah, that was a touching moment. but its old. whats next? drive shaft was the band at sun and jin's wedding?
3. in the first season there was a purpose to the show. people try to survive, flashback to show how they got on the island. now watch. the story goes nowhere. the first 3 episodes of season 2 played the same event over from a different angle. now "flashbacks" take you back a week or do nothing, like the last kate flashback. all you found out from that was that she randomly met the woman that sawyer conned. the last desmond flashback? another waste. all that fluff just to show at the end how he meets penny? they couldve done that any way imagineable and the end result is the same. they made him a monk. they could have made him a porn star or restaurant owner or a stand up comedian. no difference. the filler episode where they kill off a character that they only introduced to kill off? they need death, but cant kill too many regulars, so lets bring in someone new to kill. proffesor arntz, nikki, her latin lover. its all a waste.
4. i was sad when they killed shannon. she was awesome. but honestly, she left at the right time. whether it was her choice to leave or they just wrote her off, whatever, but look at how bad the show has gotten since she left.
5. everything in life can be explained. EVERYTHING. so this "magical" island where paralyzed people can walk again, a giant black fog can grab and kill people, pregnant women die, some dude suddenly has visions of the future, all this. come on. are you serious? this takes me back to the first season when the show was good. it was believeable. now its this cryptic fantasy land where the absurd becomes reality. they play the man of science vs man of faith debate a lot. usually through a jack vs locke argument.
id like to know the reason as to why the man of faith argument always wins. like the black smoke some how grabbing someone and jack seeing it. jack: "why are we going there?" locke: "because its our destiny". they go, and they end up finding what they are looking for, therefore proving locke was correct. jack tries to "fix" sarah so she can walk again, but fails. the surgery was a failure, he couldnt repair what needed repairing. so he runs stadiums and meets desmond. "are you sure you didnt 'fix' her, brother" yet she can walk again. miracle? perhaps. maybe the surgery also took place on the island! and are there going to be later arguments that show the man of science belief winning? if not, why not? does jj abrams have an alternate agenda?6. all that stupid shit i just mentioned will be explained. but lets look at how some of the other "mysteries" were solved. the man kate killed. remember how early in the show, shes all sad about how she killed the man she loved? here im expecting a flashback where she had the choice of killing him or turning herself in to the cops. like they were on the run and he was slowing her down so she had to lose the dead weight.
like when kramer throws newman out of the mail truck to try to keep up with the guy that stole jerry's car and jfk's golf clubs. anyways, yeah, and she chooses herself and always regrets it. therefore, later in life, shes obsessed with getting the little plane and holding on to it to remind her of what she sacrificed. i mean that would explain the bank robbery, searching all over the island for a case, digging up a dead body to get the key, etc. but how did she "kill" the man she loved? she got in his car, let him drive as she tried to escape, and the cops shot at them and hit him. she didnt even kill him! she indirectly led to his death. what a let down... jacks tattoo. nice use of bai ling, but that was another waste. "thats what it says, thats not what it means" and where did the old lady in that episode come from and where did she go? how locke got paralyzed was alright. i was expecting something like that all along. but what about libby in the mental hospital? how are they going to solve that one? im guessing someone else visits the mental hospital and sees her there. because of course, every character is intertwined. but does hurley find out? so for every mystery that they hype, all it leads to is another let down. when they end an episode with a cliffhanger now, its just like, eh whatever, either ill never find out or ill be disappointed, so why care? brian pointed something out to me a little while ago. apparently alias was the same. build up all these mysteries, cliffhanger after cliffhanger, and then the shows is ending so they have to resolve like 5 seasons worth of mysteries in like half a season. you cant do that effectively. you know lost is going to be the same. they will build up all this shit and then when they announce the show is done, theyll have 10 episodes left to close out the entire story.8. how do these "others" know EVERYTHING about the characters on the plane? they had that satelite room for a while, but even with the internet and all the know how to find whatever you want on it, there are things that arent in any report or any file on someone, so there is no way to know about them. unless we are to believe that they have been spying on everyone all their life. some things i can see that they would know about, like jack's divorce and his ex-wife's name. but there is no way the others, or anyone, could have had a file with everything about sawyers life. he killed the dude right before getting on the plane, and the others knew and had it on file for locke to read? no. if that was public record, sawyer would be in jail. did they have a mole hiding in another car watching? its just not possible. altho i am prepared for a wickedly bad explanation as to how they know.
9. i hate locke. always have. he's a weak character. not weak as in like lame, but weak as in he has no mental toughness. his father fucked him up, both mentally and physically, but he had to lie to sawyer to get sawyer to kill him. he's so easily convinced to do anything because hes dying for the feeling of having his father in his life. i cant stand how weak of a man he really is. they have tried, and succeeded to make more hateable characters, but hes the og. so hes my number 1. then michael. hes a bitch. i mean, it was understandable with him. but he straight up sold out his friends. "you have to come! theres no other way!" so hes #2. then ben. at face value, hes the most hateable character on the show. but since he isnt an original cast member and didnt betray a tust that had been formed earlier, he gets #3. juliet comes in at #4. maybe shes conflicted between whether or not shes with ben or against him, but shes a bitch. then at #5 is ana lucia. thats easy. she killed shannon and she was played by michelle rodriguez. as for my most liked characters
#1. shannon. mmm. shannon. #2 sayid. he's the man, plus he's indian and he got busy with shannon. #3 hurley. if you dont love hurley then something is wrong with you. #4 sawyer. #5 sun. thats a close one, between her and kate. but sun can actually strike fear in other characters, kate doesnt really scare anyone. sure shes the criminal of the bunch, but nobody is afraid of her. gotta love a strong woman. jack gets dropped out of the top 5 list because of his recent turn as the most naive character on the island.10. lastly, i hope locke's dad is right. nobody survived the plane crash. they are all in hell. that'd be a good ending. its the only way to explain all the stupid shit.
10a. lost announced when the show will end. 3 more seasons, 16 episodes per season. there was talk of doing 2 seasons with 24 episodes, but due to contractual obligations, that cant happen. they will also wait until like feb to start the next season. interesting. e online also reports that the show will be shot over the three year span to prevent spoilers from being leaked. which is why the michael character probably wont be coming back. the actor that plays his son will have aged dramatically by the end of the series. at least with claire, they can keep bringing in new babies to play aaron. they also say that the "everyone is dead, this is purgatory" reasoning will not happen. they have said since season 1 that this isnt the answer, but i really think they should go with that. its original, and it can explain a lot. how else are they going to explain how they found a plane at the bottom of the ocean with no survivors? because that just doesnt happen. did they fly into some twilight zone where they were immediately cloned, and then placed on the bottom of the ocean? stupid lost. they shoudlve gone with 2 24 epside seasons, hard to imagine that many people continuing to care if they keep up the trend of stupid story lines and long breaks between seasons.

This is my favorite post because it has my name in it haha. Anyways some more info. With Alias it wasn't even JJ whatever his names decision to end it. He introduced so many ideas that made the plot so convoluted that people stopped watching and ABC cancelled it. I watch Lost sometimes and think this is just Alias in Hawaii, without Jennifer Garner, and sucky. If this season finale doesn't do something crazy I give up on this show. My prediction: The island is an elaborate TV show like the Truman Show... this is why I dont write screenplays.
that episode was also a let down. all of your questions about the island answered? come on. nothing was answered. but i did like the ending. i did not see that coming.
